w-inds. news coverage

On Nov 6, 3 members unit, w-inds. went to Hong Kong. They have also received an award for having "Best record sales" in Hong Kong, 7 albums in 5 consecutive years and they are being commended as the first Japanese artist.

From left, they are Chiba Ryohei, Tachibana Keita and Ogata Ryuichi with their intense dance performance for their first independent concert. Asia No. 1 popularity was shown in HK, Wanchai.

With the light blue pens being waved in fantasy (by fans), the HK convention center looks like a night view worthy of a million dollars. Lead vocal, Tachibana Keita (23) said "I am really happy to be able to come to HK" in Cantonese and his eyes were slightly teary with the presence of 8000 fans screaming at the meeting place. Ever since the year of 2004, fans in HK has been non-stop calling the local company of w-inds. representative asking w-inds. to go over to HK for concert. In the year of 2006, w-inds. made a promise to HK fans through satellite TV saying that they will go over to HK for concert. Ryuichi said "We are happy that fans are coming to our concert." It's like a wish being fulfilled (or dream come true).

The greatest part of all is Kirei da when Keita sang a part of it in Cantonese causing so much joy in fans. In the meantime, their upcoming release "New World" in December 09 too was one of the songs in the list of 22 songs that were sang. They wore an electrifying suits and they have changed a total of 5 outfits during the concert.

In Hong Kong, throughout the release of 7 albums, they got the best sales record for 5 consecutive years ever since 2004 beating out Ayumi Hamasaki; causing them to be the first artist from Japan to have such achievement.

In 2006 w-inds. has won the most influential artist of Jpop in China and they attended a dinner banquet of the Prime Minister of China and performed in front of the Prime Minister. This time too in HK, they are known as no. 1 Japanese singer in Asia.

The next day of w-inds. arrival in HK, 7 local newspaper have make news coverage of w-inds., which the local media said their demand in HK are way beyond their expectations. w-inds. is much more popular overseas (in other Asia countries) than in Japan.

Keita expressed "If only we can go to Malaysia and Singapore. As for Asia no. 1?! It's a dream eh." w-inds. next step is to hope to become the top well known artist in Asia.

Here are a few random photos of them during their gigs in HK.

  1. Do you know why they aren't able to come to singapore? I'm anticipating their arrival. Keita's voice and smile melts my heart. He's like my source of energy when I'm tired from a day of school.

  2. stlg: thanks for visiting my w-inds. blog. Well, though the reason wasn't mentioned, it has many reasons. Before an artist can go overseas to have their concert, they have to go through a lot of research and procedures. They have to see if there is a demand of them in that country and even if they have fans in that country, they have to see whether will the profit they make will outweight or cover the cost of bringing in that artist itself. Mostly, it has to depend on your country as well. It's easier for w-inds. to go to overseas such as taiwan and HK are because they have a company based in these 2 countries, which is Flight Master as this is the company that takes charge in all their activities in their countries. Their albums and etc etc too.

For others countries, it has to depend on is there any company want to bring them in.. to be the organizer of this concert event. Then they will do research on how demanding they are, how can they attract fans from others country to go into their country, the venue, the stage, how much they have to spend to bring them into their country, their accomodation, foods, transportation, their dancers and etc etc.. all those require money. Then they will try to talk to w-inds. manager/ management and start negotiating and if everything work out fine and your local organization feel that the price is reasonable and they are able to make profit out of it still.. then they will start the process. If it's not so profitable or can't reach consensus between both parties, then they will abort the plan.

In HK, those fans have worked for years to ask them to go to HK and due to fans' persistent plus their album sales always top their local chart; hence HK sees them as a demand in HK.. hence everything worked out. and of course w-inds. themselves wanted to go there too. Since w-inds. has more and more fans all around the world, it's just a matter of time for them to explore all around Asia.

So, don't worry! I am sure the day will be here sooner or later ^_^
